From the moment I started planning Meadow’s room, I had a vision of incorporating black hearts into the decor. The shape is cute, girly, young and the classic black keeps her room a style she can grow into. I have pops of black hearts mixed in using blankets, changing table covers and her sheets. While on the hunt to find more, I came across the most adorable wall paper. To cover the accent wall, the cost would have been over $400! I knew I could do a lot more in her room for that amount of money so I decided against it and instead created the wall on my own for way less. With a few supplies I picked up for our local Hobby Lobby and some instructions from my Mom, I created the cutest wall in her room for under $20! You can create the same with any shape, color or style by using the following three items.
First, find the stencil shape you want to use. I found a pack of hearts and decided to just use one size on the wall. Second, get a 4-pack of sponge brushes. They’re easy for dipping and applying paint. Third, use a satin acrylic paint in your color of choice. I got the biggest bottle available to ensure I had enough paint to complete the wall. I would also recommend having a box of gloves, wet paper towels and painters tape on hand. Use the tape to hold the stencil in place. Dip a sponge brush into the paint and then simply dab the paint to fill in the decal on the wall. Repeat the process until the space is full with the chosen stencil.Honestly, this was very fun to create and I love the way the wall turned out. I‘ve attached photos below of the exact products I used.Xo,Joelle – Epically Stylish![]()
